Photographic Moratorium: You Don’t Skate!

Each week, we choose a photographic cliché that we think should never be used by anyone again, ever.

This week: that picture you took of that hot girl (or guy who kinda looks like a girl) who clearly doesn’t know how to skate, posing next to, on, or holding a skateboard. Give it a rest, posers.

Vice got something completely right for a change. Winds me up so much. Skateboarding has all of a sudden become cool, and while I back this, I can still remember when I was skating around and girls generally would look down their nose at anyone who skated. It reminds me of the situation that bodyboarding went through years ago, when it was super popular until people got bored and the big sponsors pulled, including quiksilver who dropped their entire bodyboarding team. Trends come and go, but some people should understand that trying desperately to jump from one trend to another will only leave you in a really lonely and depressed state one day. Know what you like, and just do that. The only requirements in life are your own. I’m sure skateboarders all over are kinda getting bored of this shit too.
